Arita Porcelain, Arita ware, Arita Yaki are porcelain & Pottery products originated in Arita-cho, Saga prefecture. The word Arita became synonym as Porcelain after Miji era. It was called Imari ceramic ware or Hizen ware in the Edo era.


It is said that raw materials of porcelain and clay for chinaware that it is were discovered in Izumiyama of Arita-cho in the early 17th century by Korean ceramists. Soon after, the city became a center of porcelain production. This area has been manufacturing tablewares and art crafts over 400 years.
